Why Finacial Aid SUCKS
Well, since i have this forum that maybe only a few will read, I will use it to rant a bit about why Financial Aid sucks, and hard. Turns out that as a Huxley student out here on the Peninsula, I am ineligible for the cushy grants and scholarships that the hard working main campus students are entitled to, and that, until today apparently, i was entitled to as well. Because of this and the poor job that Financial aid did in letting me know of my status as a dirty "satellite campus" student, looks like Ben is going to need to find some of the all powerful buck. Consequently, I will be selling "advice" on how not to start out your first week in WWU's Huxley on the Peninsula program!

A picture of my work
That is me there, Ben. That is a Spiny Dogfish that we tagged, Squalus acanthias, last year during class in Burrows Bay, WA...his name is Ugly ; )
It is truly all that one can hope for to be on the ocean during "class time". Gone are all the textbooks, overheads and gentle snoring; gone are all the plumes of noxious chalkboard eraser dust. Out there, it is all salt and wind and sun and smiles (and freaking crazy fish!). In my line of work-that is to say school- it is amazing how often one gets to have his cake and eat it too!
This year I'll be writing about my experiences as a research assistant out here on the Olympic Peninsula, near Port Angeles, WA.
